Finally My House is Paid Off
I never believe it could have happened but our house in the Philippines is paid off after only two years of sacrifices and skimping on expenses. We were playing a small foreign exchange game where you watch the exchange rate of the dollar and peso and a recent spike told us it was the time to make the move. So the house is paid off now and the decorating begins. It may cost more to decorate than the house cost(LOL). I promise to have a party kind of a second houswarming but this time there will be kitchen appliances and furniture when we return to the Philippines in a few months. Everyone who can make it is invited. I let you know details later.

Great news, Dan! Hey, I don’t want you to experience any kind of shock to the system of not having to pay those payments any longer… if you want, I’d be happy to let you start paying for my house!
Hi Bob
I failed to mention that I still am paying a mortgage on my house in the US. But the good news is I’ve got a buyer at my price for this house. Wow this is happening quick, and soon I will be spending my time in the Philippines.
Howdy? I recently received your comment on my WOW Philippines blog and I would like to thank you for the warm compliments you wrote me.
A house in the Philippines doesn’t cost much as the labor is inexpensive and the materials used are produced locally. I haven’t been to Biñan Laguna myself but someday I might, haha! I’ve only been to Cavite for some real estate project but never went further south to Laguna. I’ve been to Davao though…
I don’t live in the PI anymore, I’m living in Hawaii, but yeah, a native Filipina will always miss her home. America is a distant second =)

Hi – would you be willing to write about what Laguna is like? I have to figure out where to live, why to live somewhere and why to lot live somewhere. When I visit the Philippines in the coming months I will check out the areas based on my “Internet” research. Any words you have on Laguna would be great.
Thanks!

That is an amazingly beautiful house. Post more pics if you can.
Hi Mike
I will try to write more about Laguna in the coming months please check my earleir posts. I suggest when trying out an area in the Philippines try to go native for a few months. That means stay away from all American infleunces and see if you will really enjoy it. The Philippines is not the US no matter what part you live in. If you are looking for a place that has everything that US has you might as well live in the US. But if you want to experience a new country and culture try the Philippines. And remember you are a visitor in THEIR country.
Hi Felipe
I’ll try to post more pics on the house try my Flickr photos.
Nice house.. must be very difficult to maintain it!
