Couldn’t agree with you more. If you look at my albums you will see that the house is situated so that while working I have a clear view of this pretty tropical land and in the cool evenings and mornings I actually do work from the terrace. Believe me I don’t really spend much time in the kitchen but my wife does. Our home is very open as we would want it.

Ah grasshopper u say many thoughts. In such a pretty tropical land does one design and spend so much to live in a box? As a Kansan the opposite is the attraction. The difference the ambiance? Stay at home in your box and watch it snow out the window, live for 5mths out of a year. Go out and live all year now. You don’t store stuff in the Ph., you go to fresh market daily, you just keep the redhorse cold. Go to market>get beer/food>go prepare it>feed cats>terrace time…

I definetely did get a very good architect involved not necessarily because of what I want but more for structural affairs. The kitchen turned out smaller than I want but we had a couple of things not approved by the people who run the housing compound we live in. see our latest pics for some kitchen stuff.

I would go with the stainless steel metal kitchen cabinets. If you’re set on wood, I would consider oak because its so durable and long lasting. I would also definitely get an architect involved to make sure the kitchen turns out exactly the way you want.

I think if we didn’t get a good deal on our land and relatives didn’t live next door Cebu was an option. But as for the kitchen it looks like we may have to get an architect involved.

hi Dan! I got into here from jpsimbulan site. If you were only in Cebu, my father-in-law could help you in your kitchen set-up. He’s into wood furniture and he has american and japanese clients. He’s not that expensive because he’s just a small-time player.

Anyway, as to the termites, you can purchase chemically-treated wood. It can last a decade or more. and by then, you can rebuild your new kitchen.
